Jelly palm native to Brazil, Uruguay and northern Argentina. It can reach 6 m. high and its pinnate leaves 2-3 m long, very arched, with rigid but flexible leaflets. It has yellowish to reddish flowers and spherical edible fruits from yellow to reddish. It is one of the most resistant to cold palm trees, even at temperatures below 20º below zero, which is why it is being introduced and planted in many European countries.
